Virgin Media ELOI Played on EA SPORTS FC™ 24

The new Virgin Media ELOI season kicked off this week and will take place over the next five weeks and will culminate in a live Finals event at The Camden in Dublin on 18 April.

The group games in the Virgin Media ELOI run from 27 February to 5 April, with one one-week break for St. Patrick’s Day week.

Originally launched in 2021, the Virgin Media ELOI is a key programme created by the FAI to support the development of esports throughout the Republic of Ireland, in partnership with Epic Global, an Irish esports agency.

The Virgin Media ELOI features players from every club in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division and SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division, in a bid to secure a spot in the EA SPORTS FC Pro World Championships Play-ins. The winner will also qualify into the group stage of the eChampions League held in May this year.

Running every Tuesday and Wednesday evening, the competition will bring a new audience to our League of Ireland clubs through new digital platforms.

The Virgin Media ELOI will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube, providing fans with an opportunity to follow their favourite teams and players throughout the tournament.

Clubs have selected their players for the competition amongst some of the best players in Ireland.

Last season’s edition was won by Dundalk representative, XampL at the Aviva Stadium Finals event.

League of Ireland, Director, Mark Scanlon said: “We are delighted to announce the return of the ELOI this year after last year’s exciting season. This unique competition offers us a portal into a whole new generation of fans who can find a new way of connecting with our League of Ireland Clubs and gives Clubs a unique chance of connecting with new audiences. We’re delighted to have Virgin Media on board for this season’s edition bringing a whole new dynamic to the competition. I would like to wish all of our ELOI players and Clubs the best of luck in the competition and hope supporters will enjoy the games.”

Paul Higgins, Vice President of Commercial at Virgin Media Ireland, said: “Virgin Media recognises the growth of gaming and esports in Ireland and we know many of our customers come to Virgin Media so they can experience the most reliable and best broadband for their gameplay. Our partnership with the FAI’s esports programme shows our commitment to supporting gamers at all levels in Ireland. Best of luck to everyone involved in the Virgin Media ELOI over the coming weeks.”
