The latest moves on the opening day of the transfer window

The opening day of the League of Ireland transfer window was a busy one for all of the Club secretaries across the country with some big names moving in and around the League.

After releasing players last month, Bohemians brought in two new arrivals for Alan Reynolds’ squad as former Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leigh Kavanagh and Scottish midfielder Archie Meekson signed for the Dublin 7 outfit.

There was a boost to Sligo Rovers season as Ed McGinty extended his loan at the Club and Ollie Denham’s stay at The Showgrounds was made permanent.

Leaders of the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division saw a big name return as well as some notable departures. Fan favourite Harry Wood signed a permanent deal with the Club after his impressive loan spell last year and Shane Farrell has departed to go to Drogheda United while Jad Hakiki has moved to Dundalk.

Dundalk also made the signing of centre backs Hayden Cann and Bobby Faulkner from Lincoln City and Doncaster Rovers respectively.

They’re the latest new arrivals after Scott McGill and Norman Garrett both made their way into Oriel Park to aid the Club’s fight against relegation.

Galway United, meanwhile, have made the signing of former SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division top goalscorer Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe while Al-Amin Kazeem has crossed over to St. Patrick’s Athletic.

There were some departures too from Wexford in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division where Jess Lawlor, Abbie Brophy and Freya De Mange all left Ferrycarrig Park.

Brophy has moved to DLR Waves where Rachel Doyle has also signed.

In the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division, Athlone Town have extended Gideon Tetteh’s loan from Shamrock Rovers.
