Sligo Rovers have raised over €80,000 for the club as a fundraising drive came to a successful end.
A fund set up ten days ago by the Bit O' Red Supporters Trust aimed to raise €30,000 to help the club overcome the financial strain of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But when then that target was met in less than a day, several more had to be made more before the fund was closed today with over €80,000 donated.
Sligo Rovers chairman Tommy Higgins said: "We have been taken aback by the response and over the last 10 days, I think we've seen some of the biggest strengths within our club.
"There is a passion here that always comes to the fore. As we look forward to the restart, this fund will be a huge help financially and allow us to plan for the next few months in a much stronger position.
"There are still hurdles to overcome. But what we've seen is the defiance that Sligo Rovers has always had.
"I want to thank and congratulate the Bit O' Red Supporters Trust. The supporters are the heartbeat of our club and they will be behind our team and management every step of the way from now until November."
