Limerick FC manager Martin Russell cut a frustrated figure after his side lost for the second time in four days in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

The Super Blues were defeated by Bohemians thanks to Dinny Corcoran’s 50th minute goal, the same scoreline that Dundalk beat them by last Friday.

Much of the talk from Russell post-game was the lack of protection by the officials for his players, most notably, recent signing from Cork City, Chiedozie Ogbene.

“If you have got attacking players, do you create an environment where they can flourish or do you stifle them and let defenders make four or five challenges before they even get a yellow card?” Russell asked.

“You have to side down with the recklessness or you side down with the attacking play. I think in most countries they side with the attacking play.

“Having said that, they’re just things that happen. They’re not the full reasons why we didn’t score and we acknowledge that as well.”

Limerick bossed their opponents for most of the game but it was Bohemians that created the more clear cut chances and Corcoran’s goal saw his side go back to Dalymount Park with all three points.

“On another night you win the game convincingly,” continued Russell. “There was still a lot of good stuff tonight that we can’t forget and we have got another home game again to put all the ills right at the weekend.”

The Markets Field outfit welcome Finn Harps on Saturday afternoon and despite two defeats on the bounce, Russell insisted that he is not feeling any more pressure going into the game.

"It’s still early in the season. The only pressure we put on ourselves is to perform. I think we will play worse this season and get something.

“We just have to keep on trying to do the right things. Tonight, I thought we were probably the better footballing side. On another night, we probably would have won the game.”
