Finn Harps were denied a huge victory over their local rivals Derry City thanks to a last-minute goal from Adam Liddle.

Elsewhere, Dundalk held out to claim victory at Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers cruised to victory against Cork City, ten-men St. Patrick's Athletic claimed their first win of the season and Bohemians comfortably won at Waterford. 

Derry City 1-1 Finn Harps 

It was almost a night to remember for Finn Harps as they were denied a huge victory at local rivals Derry City. 

Ryan Connolly pounced on a terrible defensive mistake in the 33rd minute to score and put Harps into a lead, a lead they held onto until the final seconds of the match.

Derry mounted the pressure against Harps and in the last-minute, Adam Liddle tapped home Walter Figueira's low cross to level and break Harps' hearts. 

Result: Derry City 1-1 Finn Harps - (Connolly 61, Liddle 90')

Shelbourne 1-2 Dundalk 

The Champions were made to work hard for the points in front of 3,010 supporters at Tolka Park against Shelbourne. 

Andy Boyle's header saw the Lilywhites take the lead in the 18th minute before Pat Hoban scored his first goal of the season two minutes from the break. 

Gary Deegan gave the newly-promoted side hope with a screamer which went in off the cross-bar in the 54th minute as they pressed for an equaliser throughout the second-half. However, the Lilywhites showed their quality and sealed the win. 

Result: Shelbourne 1-2 Dundalk - (Andy Boyle 18', Pat Hoban 43'. Gary Deegan 54')

Shamrock Rovers 6-0 Cork City

Rovers cruised to their second win in the opening two games of the season with a 6-0 win over Cork City. 

Graham Burke scored an incredible five goals in a remarkable individual performance as Jack Byrne also scored for Rovers. 

Cork City were reduced to ten men during the first-half as Deshane Dalling received a straight red card for a poor tackle on Lee Grace as Rovers turned on the style at Tallaght Stadium.

Result: Shamrock Rovers 6-0 Cork City (Graham Burke 33', 42', 74', 78', 80', Jack Byrne 60')

Waterford 0-2 Bohemians

Bohemians bounced back from their opening day Dublin Derby defeat with an impressive 2-0 victory at the Regional Sports Centre. 

The away side took the lead three minutes from the break thanks to an own goal from Sam Bone who headed into his own net. On the stroke of half-time, Bohs doubled their lead as Dan Mandroiu slotted home from the penalty spot to seal a comfortable win.

Result: Waterford 0-2 Bohemians - (Sam Bone OG 42', Dan Mandroiu PEN 45')

Sligo Rovers 0-2 St. Patrick's Athletic

St. Patrick's Athletic got their season up and running thanks to a 2-0 victory at the Showgrounds. 

Ronan Hale scored the first goal of the game in the 26th minute and Chris Forrester added a second ten minutes later to put Pats into a match-winning lead. 

Despite being reduced to ten men in the 69th minute with Ollie Younger sent off for two bookable offences, Pats kept Sligo at bay to claim the points.
