A goal from Aaron Molloy midway through the second-half earned Shelbourne a deserved three points as they continued their positive start to the season at Ferrycarrig Park.
After a flurry of corners the visitors finally made the pressure pay, when the ball fell to Molloy and he made no mistake. The sides had gone in level at the break although the visitors had the lion's share of possession and chances.
Gavin Boyne forced a full length save out of goalkeeper Kealan Gaffney in the eight minute, with the netminder diving to his right to claw away his 25-yard piledriver.
Five minutes later it was Shelbourne goalkeeper Dean Delaney's turn to have his gloves warmed when he saved Chris Kenny's free-kick. Shels won a succession of corners, with Aaron Rooney twice heading over from Dayle Rooney deliveries, while Dave Mulcahy was also off target after getting his head to a flag-kick.
Wexford began the second-half with a little bit more urgency and Thomas Croke forced a save out of Delaney, but the Reds were quickly back in the ascendancy. Dayle Rooney twice went close to breaking the deadlock, with Gaffney blocking the first effort at his feet in the 52nd minute, and moments later he ran on to a through ball from James Brown and cut inside but his shot drifted wide of the left upright.
In the 59th minute Wexford's Danny Doyle raced on to a pass from Mikey Byrne but saw his shot from a tight angle blocked by Delaney. Gavin Boyne whipped in a corner in the 66th minute, Shelbourne's fifth in quick succession, and when the ball fell to Aaron Molloy he smashed it home through a sea of bodies to give the Reds a deserved lead.
Wexford's Owen Wall had a chance to rescue a point for the hosts in the 86th minute but he blazed wide after being found by substitute Dean Kelly and Shels tooks the three points their dominance merited.
