Waterford FC bounced back from Monday’s defeat in Dundalk to comfortably beat Derry City 4-0 at the RSC.

Derry City should have taken the lead in the opening minutes when Ronan Curtis pulled the ball back for Aaron McEneff but he fired wide from 12 yards.

And Waterford capitalised minutes later. Derry failed to clear Faysel Kasmi’s corner from the left and Rory Feely was on hand to fire the opener.

And it was 2-0 within minutes. Kasmi’s free kick picked out the run of Ismahil Akinade and he struck the ball into the back of the net.

Waterford werr’e stopping and it was 3-0 five minutes before half time. Sander Puri picked up possession 35 yards from goal and he unleashed an unstoppable strike past Doherty.

As much as Derry City tried, they couldn’t get back into the game, before Stanley Aborah grabbed a late goal. He picked up the ball 25 yards from goal before turning and firing beyond Doherty to make it 4-0 in a comfortable victory for Alan Reynolds’ side.
