UCD went second in the Airtricity League First Division table after a comfortable 4-1 win over Athlone Town in Belfield.
The Students raced out of the blocks and were ahead within two minutes. Simon Power's cross wasn't cleared by Kirlis Grigorovs, with O'Neil smashing ball into the bottom corner, despite the best efforts of Igor Labuts.
It could've been two within a minute, with Power dancing through the Athlone rearguard only to have Labuts smother the shot. However, Athlone equalized against the run of play with ten minutes gone.
Chris Rodrigues' cross fell to the feet of Jason Lyons and his effort deflected past Nial Corbet. Half an hour in and the home side regained the lead. Liam Scales threaded a ball through to O'Neil and his cross was rifled to the net by sub Daire O'Connor had the Students in front at the break.
A scrappy start to the second half was ended by UCD's third though. Maxi Kougoun's long ball was misjudged by the Athlone defence and Georgie Kelly nipped in to lob Labuts.
Ricardo Monsanto switched to three at the back to try and chase the game. Labuts made another couple of saves but was helpless as Kelly made it four in injury time.
