Jason Abbott broke free, his shot stung the hands of Niall Corbet and Matthew Whelan tapped in the rebound, only to see the flag go up, The Students would have an effort of their own before the break though. Paul Hunt was forced into a brilliant reaction save from Georgie Kelly at point-blank range. They continued to get closer in the second half, with both Jason McLelland and Greg Sloggett having chances. The latters effort with an hour played was heading goalwards - only for Georgie Kelly to get in the way.
But Cobh would leave it until the 79th minute to grab a winner. Kyle McNamara's long ball was won by Whelan, he held off Liam Scales and finished low past Corbet. It was enough for the Cork side to go second in the table.
