Sligo Rovers were held at home by Connacht rivals Galway United in a 1-1 draw at the Showgrounds.

Striker Jonah Ayunga had given Sligo the lead just 10 minutes in after Liam Martin slotted him in behind and after a neat turn, he placed the ball under the keeper.

Sligo should have pressed home their advantage but were instead pegged back by Stephen Folan 14 minutes later.

It was a long throw into the box which caused the problem and after the ball dropped for Folan six yards out to turn home.

Sligo move into 9th position in the Premier Division table and Galway United go above St. Patrick's Athletic and off the bottom.

Galway grew into the game and could have claimed a winner late on but Marc Ludden was sent off late on as the game ended all square.
