Shelbourne progressed to the quarter-finals of the EA SPORTS Cup thanks to an impressive 7-2 rout of Drogheda United.
Both sides made several changes for this tie but only one side impressed as a first half rout left the outcome all but decided going into the break.
Veteran centre-back Dave Mulcahy headed home a corner on 20 minutes for his side's first and his first for the club.
Dylan Grimes doubled the home side's advantage two minutes later, before Cian Kavanagh made it three in four minutes for Shels when keeper Luka Gratzer fumbled Jamie Doyle's effort into his path.
Doyle soon found the net but this time it was from the spot after Shane Farrell was felled in the box after 28 minutes. Things went from bad to worse for Drogheda after Lloyd Buckley had to leave the pitch on a stretcher following a serious looking injury before the break.
It didn't get any better for them in the second half with Doyle's second making it 5-0 three minutes after the restart. Sean Farrell then struck on the hour mark before Drogheda pulled two back through Sean Trimble and Jordan Abeyemo.
Shels would have the final word however, with Doyle grabbing his hattrick through a sensational injury time strike into the top corner in from 30 yards.
