Shelbourne produced an excellent display to record a 2-0 win over Limerick on Friday evening.

However, it was one of their former players, goalkeeper Jack Brady, who left Tolka Park with all the plaudits having pulled off a string of world class saves.

Shels went at their opponents from the off with James English and Alex O'Hanlon testing Jack Brady in the Limerick goal early doors.

The home side created chance after chance with Colm Walsh O'Louglen hauled off just 28 minutes in after suffering a torrid time at the hands of the Shels attackers.

Six minutes later, that substitution paid off as replacement Aaron Fitzgerald got back to prevent a goal of the season contender by heading over Karl Moore's attempted chip from the byline.

The home side did eventually take the lead in the 37th minute when Aidan Friel delivered an exquisite pass across the box that was turned home by Moore. Shels doubled their lead just before the break when the referee pointed to the spot after a challenge on James English by Fitzgerald.

His namesake Lorcan smashed down the middle to send the home crowd wild. The second half saw no more goals but Shelbourne continued to pepper the Limerick goal.
