Shelbourne recorded their fifth win of the season as they bounced back from last week's loss to Cabinteely with a 2-0 win over a disappointing Galway side.
The home team should have taken the lead as early as the third minute when top scorer David O'Sullivan was left free in the middle of the box. However, his effort on goal was at a nice height for the keeper to palm clear.
The remainder of the first half was a scrappy affair until three minutes from the break when Alan Byrne rose highest to head past Tadhg Ryan from Lorcan Fitzgerald's free-kick into the box.
Galway showed some fight in the second half but the points were wrapped up in the 74th minute when the visitors failed to clear Lorcan Fitzgerald's cross into the box and O'Sullivan finished into an empty net from little more than a yard out.
Galway enjoyed a couple of half chances during the remainder of the game but the home side ran out comfortable winners in the end.
