Shamrock Rovers completed the 2020 SSE Airtricity League season unbeaten, after a 2-0 win away to Shelbourne in Tolka Park.
The result, combined with Finn Harps’ win at home to Waterford, means Ian Morris’ side finish in ninth place.
Jack Byrne capped off a fine season to open the scoring for the Champions, ahead of joining the Ireland camp later this week. The 24-year-old’s fine solo effort midway through the first half left Gary Deegan trailing in his wake as he scored past Jack Brady.
Aaron Greene scored the final goal of the season for the Champions from close range, as Stephen Bradley’s side became the first unbeaten team to complete a League season since 1927.
While the Hoops enter the history books as unbeaten League champions, Shelbourne hopes of Premier Division survival now hinge on a Promotion/Relegation Play-Off against Longford Town.
