It took a dramatic finish for Shamrock Rovers to book their place in the 2017 EA SPORTS Cup Final as they overcame Cork City 1-0 at Tallaght Stadium.
In a game streamed live on the SSE Airtricity League Facebook page, the two teams treated the spectators to a nail biting game that was eventually decided by a last-minute strike from James Doona.
Cork had defender Alan Bennett sent off earlier on and that affected their game-plan, but they stood firm throughout with Ryan Delaney and Shane Griffin both impressing.
The visiting team even had manager John Caulfield sent to the stands, but Rovers could not find a way through even with Ronan Finn letting rip with one of his trademark 30-yard drives.
After two periods of extra-time it was heading towards a penalty shoot-out when substitute Doona popped up with the all-important winner.
Rovers will now take on Dundalk in the final on September 16.
