St. Patrick's Athletic were held to just a point after an impressive performance against 10-men Shamrock Rovers. Pats had the better of the play throughout the game and should have secured the three points which would have seen them strengthen their European challenge. Despite that, Rovers did have the best chance of the first-half as Rhys Marshall collected a lofted-ball over the top and curled his left-footed effort wide in the final stages before the break. Pats dominated the play after the break and Rovers' task was made more difficult when Joey O'Brien saw red for a second bookable offence after he found Georgie Kelly. Robbie Benson, Georgie Kelly and Billy King all had chances but they couldn't find the break-through as they stay in sixth position. Pats have to hope results go their way and win against Bohemians if they've got any chance of reaching European football. Shamrock Rovers lifted the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title following the conclusion of the match with matches against Derry City and Shelbourne to follow.
