Longford are one win away from cementing their place in this season's play-offs after a comfortable home win over mid-table side Cabinteely.
After a relatively even start to the game, Longford grew in confidence as the half wore on and were rewarded on 34 minutes. Jamie Doyle won and took a free kick from just outside the area. His shot was parried out by Stephen McGuinness and Chambers latched on the loose ball to give the Town the lead.
Minutes before the break and McGlade doubled the home side's lead. He made a lovely run in behind the defence and Meenan played a lovely slick ball through. McGlade slotted the ball low under McGuinness.
The second half threatened to peter out into the abyss as Longford went slowly down the gears. It would be to their own downfall too.
Keith Dalton was left in acres of space on the left wing as he cut inside to latch onto the through ball. He drilled his effort low and hard past Michael Kelly. However it was not enough for the away side, even though they did have the ball in the net a second time, but Waters was ruled offside.
But McGlade wasn't finished and he made sure the night would be about him. He struck twice more in injury time, the first he rounded three players after a lovely through ball from Doyle. To complete his hat-trick he got another through ball and this time he smashed the ball into the roof of the net via McGuinness' knees.
Longford are up to fourth and can look forward to their Cup Quarter-Final with Cork on Friday night having won five games in a row.
