Longford hit a dent in their promotion aspiration following a disappointing loss at home to Cobh.
Longford had the majority of possession in the opening 45 minutes but failed to create any clear cut chances. Verdon seen a free header go over the bar and McGlade had a couple of shots after some good dribbling but his efforts went wide of the mark.
There was no real sign of any Cobh attack in the opening half, but that didn't stop them taking the lead early in the second. The referee gave a foul on the left wing for a pull of the shirt. The resulting free kick was played low towards the near post and Fernandez flicked the ball on past Michael Kelly.
It took a while for Longford to get the shock of going behind out of their system, but once they eventually did, they still failed to create any big chances. That was until 10 minutes to go. Dylan McGlade Dribbled well towards the by line on the left wing.
His back heel found Daniel O'Reilly and he played a brilliant ball into the box to find Sam Verdon free. However Cobh weren't out of surprises yet. Stephen Christopher found himself in acres of space as Longford failed to close him down. From only 15 yards out he drilled the ball into the back of the net. Longford will be disappointed they didn't create more with all the possession they had.
