Longford Town secured three vital points and jumped back up into second in the league with a 1-0 win over Cobh Ramblers at the City Calling Stadium.
A first half Sam Verdon strike was enough to see off the visitors as the home side dominated the game in large parts but failed to capitalize on the many chances they created in the game.
Cobh will rue their missed chances as Lee Steacy kept out Jaze Kabia on a number of occasions in the first half.
Sam Verdon put Longford ahead just after the half hour mark when a one-two with Aaron Dobbs sent the Dublin man through where he coolly slotted it by Hunt in goal.
The second half saw Longford control the game in terms of possession and chances but they failed to score again for the duration of the game with Dean Byrne having at least four shots on goal along with Verdon who's half volley was brilliantly saved by Hunt in the Cobh goal.
Cobh tried in vain but failed to truly test Longford in the second half. Kabia along with Greg Henry had half chances but nothing too worrying for Neale Fenn's side as they ramp up the pressure on table toppers Shelbourne.
