Limerick FC got their first three points of the season with a 3-1 win over Cobh Ramblers at the Markets Field.

Tommy Barrett's men hadn't managed a goal from their first three games but they put that right with an all action display against their visitors from Cork.

Kieran 'Red' Hanlon was Limerick's hero with two goals, while fellow striker Connor Ellis also hit the target. Jaze Kabia netted Cobh's reply. Limerick could and should have been a couple of goals up before Hanlon opened the scoring on 13 minutes.

Shane Tracy's free kick was flicked into Hanlon's path by Killian Brouder and he coolly slotted past Adam Mylod. Ellis doubled Limerick's advantage on the half hour after he found the net following a superb run from his own half.

The home side took their eye off the ball a couple of minutes later as Kabia was left in unopposed from Ian Turner's through ball and made no mistake from 14 yards.

However, Limerick restored their two goal lead six minutes before the break and again it was Hanlon who was the main man. He brilliantly controlled Aaron Fitzgerald's diagonal ball, before unleashing a piledriver into the Cobh net.

Limerick had chances to add to their lead in the second half but had to be content with three goals and all three points.
