Limerick FC are into the last eight of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup after a 2-1 win over Cabinteely at the Markets Field.

After a poor opening half hour, the home side went ahead when Connor Ellis pounced on a mishit Karl Manahan back pass and rounded Stephen McGuinness to finish into an empty net.

Limerick doubled their advantage early in the second half after Maguire hit the target after initially being denied by McGuinness. Tommy Barrett's side should have added further goals to their total but the two goal cushion always looked enough to earn safe passage into the next round.

However, Cabinteely continued to try their luck and were rewarded when Kevin Knight scrambled in from close range in the 90th minute. Jack Tuite had a glorious chance in the final throws of the game but was unable to beat Tommy Holland and Limerick held on for the 2-1 win.
