Limerick FC missed the chance to go top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division after being held to a 1-1 draw with Wexford at the Markets Field.

Wexford hit the front against the run of play when Emmet Nugent took advantage of a slip to run in on goal. His shot was saved by Jack Brady but Nugent was on hand to fire in the rebound from close range.

Limerick were back on level terms three minutes later as Darren Murphy blasted home from 16 yards after Connor Ellis mis-controlled Karl O'Sullivan's cross.

The home side pushed for a winner and came close late on through Kieran Hanlon and Shane Tracy but were unable to find a goal that would have put them top of the league.
