Shelbourne secured their Extra.ie FAI Cup quarter-final spot in some style thanks to an impressive second-half performance against Galway United.
Ian Morris' side scored five goals at Eamonn Deacy Park to advance past a Galway United side who will give plenty of hope of improvement to new manager John Caulfield for the rest of the First Division season.
It was an even start to the cup tie before the home side were given the ideal opportunity to take the lead 20 minutes in when Enda Curran was taken down by goalkeeper Colin McCade in the area. Mikey Place stepped up but fired his effort well over the bar.
Galway were made to pay just 15 minutes later when Dayle Rooney's 20-yard free-kick nestled into the bottom corner to give the away side the lead.
Galway fought back after the break as Curran levelled the tie in the 53rd minute to give the First Division club hope of causing an upset. However, Shelbourne retook the lead just 19 minutes from the end as Ciaran Kilduff nipped in behind to chip the ball over the keeper and score.
Incredibly, just two minutes later, Place redeemed his earlier penalty miss as he got on the end of Shane Doherty's cross to find the bottom corner and level the tie.
Shelbourne showed their Premier Division class in the final 10 minutes as Ryan Brennan found the net when Kilduff's powerful effort hit the bar and Brennan directed the rebound into the back of the net.
The moment of the match came from Rooney once again as he sealed his brace with an incredible run and curling finish over the keeper in the 84th minute before substitute Aaron Dobbs added a fifth in the final minute.
