Sligo Rovers won the Northwest Derby very late in the game in what is probably the biggest match between the two in recent years.

The result lifts Gerard Lyttle's side out of the relegation zone at the expense of Harps who now sit in 10th with Sligo in 8th, one point ahead.

Sligo Rovers will be thanking Rhys McCabe after his very late winner. Their other goal came from Vinny Faherty early in the first half while Paddy McCourt levelled for Harps with less than 10 minutes to go.

Finn Harps started the match well and kept the ball well in the opening exchanges, and Sligo scored somewhat against the run of play. Rhys McCabe floated a ball into the box and Faherty got on the end of it to put his side in the lead.

Finn Harps came back strong but failed to find the net as the first half drew to a close. They started the second half with real intent and their efforts were rewarded on the 82nd minute after a nice solo goal from Paddy McCourt.

But Harps were level for all of six minutes as Rhys McCabe turned goal scorer to win the match for Sligo late on.
