It's when the chips really are down do you see the mettle of any team and nothing more could be said about Dundalk tonight as they cruised to a 4-0 win against Waterford thanks to goals from Patrick Hoban, Sean Murray and the first goals from Daniel Kelly and Cameron Dummingan in their Dundalk careers.

The big news pre-match was the news of the omission of the injured Michael Duffy which sent nervous energy around Oriel. Vinny Perth had to tinker his line up to include Jordan Flores on the left and Sean Hoare to play in the 'Chris Shields role'.

Both players with the rest of the Dundalk side rose to the challenge to prove a point and boy did they in Oriel Park. In the eighth minute, the impressive Sean Murray sent in a high cross which Hoban rose highest to loop the ball over Keto to ease the early nerves.

Dundalk continued to press with chances plenty for the home side. Sean Murray went from provider to scorer after he cut inside and pulled the trigger that left Keto no chance. The second half saw one of the finest team goals you'll see all season.

Gannon slipped into McGrath who instantly played it onto Daniel Kelly in and he kept his composure to fire past Keto for his first Dundalk goal.

The goals were not finished there with recent signing Cameron Dummingan opening his account after slotting home after an initial effort from Georgie Kelly.

If this was a sign of intent...imagine what the side will be like at 'full strength'?
