It may not have been pretty at times but Dundalk continued their good form with a victory over Drogheda United.

Goals from Steven Kinsella and David McMillan nine wins out of nine in all competitions. The early exchanges saw Ryan McEvoy have a great chance for Drogheda only for Brian Gartland to clear it off the line with a header. It seems the Boynesiders were here to play.

Dundalk had attempts by both Steven Kinsella and Dylan Connolly going close the latter with a great effort that hit the post, he collected the ball and unleashed a vicious shot from the outside of the boot which hits the post.

Dundalk got their just rewards with a fantastic team goal, Brian Gartland crossed in to O'Donnell whose header could only be parried to the path of Kinsella who slotted home. The second half started with the home side on the front foot and David McMillan got his just rewards for his hard work a great headed to make it 21 goals in all competitions this season.

He headed past McGuinness with a pin point Gannon cross. Drogheda's misery was compounded when Thomas Byrne was sent off for a second bookable offence. It could have been a lot more only for some smart saves by Stephen McGuinness in the Drogheda goal who denied the impressive Michael Duffy when he was introduced. Duffy got on the scoresheet at final whistle when his low curling effort slipped under the Drogheda custodian.

All rounds lead to Monday night with Cork City with their sights on the title and Dundalk looking to spoil the party.
