With the weekend that's in it, Patrick Hoban banished Waterford back to the south east with a last-gasp goal to give the three points to the home side.

Dundalk's No 9 headed from a Michael Duffy cross in the 94th minute to give Dundalk the vital victory. Stephen Kenny's side started brightly with Sean Hoare heading goalbound which was well saved by Vigouroux in the Waterford goal.

In the 17th minute, a defensive mix up from goalkeeper Gary Rogers and his back line saw Derek Daly receive the ball from a Sander Puri pass but he curled it over the bar, when really it would have been easier to score.

Vigouroux was on hand to stop a brilliant shot from Karolis Chvedukas after a great assist from Jamie McGrath. Just before half-time a brilliant run down the left, with Duffy linking well with McGrath who sent it into the on-rushing Hoban but its just hooked off his foot at the vital second.

The second-half Dundalk siege on the Waterford goal with Hoban going close but he couldn't get the right connection from a Duffy cross.

Hoban went close again this time from Ronan Murray's header only to be well saved.

In the end it was a last ditch run from the left by Duffy, sent into the area and while Hoban will take credit, Gary Comerford was the man who got the unfortunate touch to send it into the net.

For now it was Saint Patrick who got Dundalk the points!
