A fantastic goal out of absolutely no where by Ismail Akinade fired Bohemians to victory over Dundalk in the last home game of the season for the Lilywhites.
Despite dominating play for the majority of the game Dundalk failed to make the break through. Bohemians has the first real attack on goal with some smart work by Kavanagh in the build up play with an even better save from Rogers to deny Dinny Corcoran.
Jamie McGrath was next up to have a try after a little look up he hit a great 35 yard drive which only the post denied the player a fantastic individual goal. Dundalk did have a goal denied when Benson's shot was parried by Supple with McMillan converting but the goal was ruled out due to offside.
The goal came just on the stroke of half time when Akinade latched onto a hesitation by the Dundalk defence on the edge of the area and he fired a brilliant shot past Rogers. Dundalk had a big call for a penalty in the second half when Thomas Stewarts cross was blocked by Cornwall and the Dundalk players were calling for a handball but the referee waved play on.
McMillan had numerous chances saved by Supple as Dundalk continued to knock on the defence of Bohemians and ask questions. However for all their endeavour they could not break though and Bohemians held on for the victory.
