Drogheda United have moved top of the First Division after they defeated 10-man Finn Harps 2-1 at United Park.
The hosts took the lead on 24 minutes as Keith Cowan was adjudged to have handled the ball after Gareth McCaffrey had hit the post. With the Harps defender dismissed, McCaffrey sent Gallagher the wrong way to give the Drogs the lead.
United made it 2-0 eight minutes later as Richie Purdy burst past two players before firing into the far corner.
The visitors huffed and puffed second-half but it was only in stoppage time that they pulled a goal back as John O'Flynn bundled the ball home at the back post but it mattered little as Drogheda held on for victory.
