Cork City maintained their winning start to the new SSE Airtricity League season as they came from behind to defeat Sligo Rovers at Turners Cross on Monday evening.

The visitors took the lead against the run of play after 65 minutes as Kieran Sadlier pounced on a defensive error from City captain John Dunleavy before calmly stoking the ball into the far bottom right corner.

But their lead lasted less than a minute as the Leesiders levelled when Steven Beattie latched onto a Campion flick following a Garry Buckley long ball and drilled the ball past the goalkeeper at the near post.

And Sean Maguire completed the comeback as he neatly fired home when through on goal to seal Cork City’s fourth win in as many games this season.
