Cork City have now gone eight games without a win in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division as they were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom club Finn Harps at Turner's Cross on Monday evening.
Following a frustrating first half that saw both Karl Sheppard and Graham Cummins spurn glorious opportunities to break the deadlock, City finally edged in front thanks to a moment of magic from Kevin O’Connor shortly after half time.
Cummins was fouled 30 yards from goal and O’Connor strode forward confidently and brilliantly curled the ball over the wall and into the top right corner of the net.
Harps, who have yet to record a win in the league this season, responded well to that setback and they almost levelled in the 65th minute but Jacob Borg’s header came back off the far post.
But they would make it 1-1 with 14 minutes remaining as from a short corner, substitute Tony McNamee picked out Keith Cowan and the captain blasted the ball into the roof of the net from close range to earn his side a share of the spoils.
