SSE Airtricity League First Division leaders UCD stumble at Dublin rivals Cabinteely as the home side secure a comfortable victory.

Cabinteely were the team quickest to settle and were much the better team throughout the game. The game's opening chances for either side fell to Karl Byrne and Jason McClelland but nothing to really trouble either goalkeeper.

From the opening minute, the home side were showing real urgency and hunger to win every ball and their hard work paid off after just thirteen minutes when Jack Watson put the home side in front.

A nightmare few minutes for goalkeeper Williams who scuffed his attempted clearance straight into the path of Jack Watson who calmly took control of the ball and slotted into an empty net before the keeper could recover.

UCD looked to respond immediately with a superb looping effort from Georgie Kelly but it went just past the keepers post and it was all UCD would really have in the opening half from a serious chances point of view.

Cabinteely found themselves two in front just seven minutes later thanks to Luke Clucas. Very sloppy defending at the back again from UCD left Dean Casey with all the time in the world on the left to square the ball right for Clucas to tap home for his teams second of the night.

The second half started just as the first ended with all of the possesion for Cabinteely and first to every fifty fifty ball and race. Conor Keeley went closest for Cabinteely in the second half with a powerful free kick forcing the best out of Williams in the goal and a great save to keep the score at 2-0. UCD had half chances in the second half but only from distance as Cabinteely held out for a vital victory.
