Wexford recorded their second win of the season on Friday night at Stradbrook. Eoin Porter's first-half effort was enough to give them all three points against Cabinteely.

The hosts should have had the lead in the 10th minute. Anto Dolan put a ball in across the goal from the right. It was perfect for Joe Doyle to tap home, but he didn't get clean contact with it and the chance was lost.

Adam Hanlon was involved in everything good Wexford were doing. He played a one-two with Danny Doyle on the edge of the box, and Jack Menton had to push the ball around his left post. And Hanlon was involved in the lead goal. He beat a couple of men out right, before putting in a perfect ball for Eoin Porter to finish from six yards.

Cabo nearly equalised within ninety seconds, as Waters put in a dangerous low cross from the left; neither Watson nor Galvin could get there to tap the ball home.

Cabinteely had the better of the play in the second-half, but chances were at a premium. Watson and Doyle combined, but the latter's cross was just too far ahead of the onrushing Marty Waters.

Wexford were living on breakaway attacks. Once such move in the 66th minute saw debutant Dean Kelly, and Porter combine to set up Hanlon. But his touch was loose, and he had to settle for winning a corner.

Both Conor Keeley and Michael Scott had efforts saved on the line for Cabinteely, before Kelly really should have wrapped up the game for the visitors. Liam Donnelly played him in, but with two bites of the cherry, he had both efforts blocked by Menton in the Cabo goal.

The hosts hit the bar, before the game ended on a sour note as both Lotefa and Ricky Fox were shown straight reds after a coming together which involved players from both benches. But Damien Locke won't care. It's a second win of the season for them, and means they're unbeaten since the mid-season break.
