DUNDALK

With new owners and new signings a plenty, Stephen Kenny and Dundalk have added strength and depth in order to try and tussle the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title back from Cork City.

After a stuttering start which saw the Lilywhites draw a blank in thier opening three games, the men from Oriel Park have exploded into life and have not looked back. Despite sitting in second they trail Cork City by just two points compared to this time last year when it was a massive 18 points.

Dundalk will look to continue their good run of form and maintain their mean streak both in attack and defence. While Pat Hoban leads the goal scoring charts with 19 goals, a key component of Dundalk is that the goals can come from anywhere in the side.

Mid-Season Rating: A
Despite being in second place Dundalk have performed excellently despite two losses coming in quick succession against Waterford and Cork, however since that loss to Waterford, Dundalk have gone 9 games unbeaten as they continue to keep chase on the title leaders.

Best Player: Patrick Hoban
Returning with a smile on his face and a keen eye for goal, Dundalk’s returning number 9 had big boots to fill following the departure from David McMillan, he has responded in kind and with 19 goals so far he is on course for a personal best of 25 or whatever ‘secret’ goal target he set at the beginning of the season.

Most Promising Newcomer: Krisztian Adorjan
It took a while for the former Liverpool player to bed in but now he has settled, he is beginning to show the class and flair that has made him one to watch out - especially in Europe

Area They Need To Strengthen: Forwards
What happens if Hoban gets injured? That is the prime worry for all Dundalk fans, Stephen Kenny does have option but are they are prolific in front of goal? He may need to find a proven goal scorer if Hoban breaks down but who is out there to fill the void. Kenny will need to get his thinking cap on.
