There is little doubt that Cabinteely have improved this season even if the League table does not tell the same story.

The coaching minds of Eddie Gormley, Eddie Wallace, Graham Hanlon and, of course, Pat Devlin, means that the young squad are in rich company when it comes to League royalty. And their expertise is being picked up by the players, bit by bit.

The big issue is inconsistency and a lack of goals. Elsewhere in the League, there are clubs with a formidable mix of strong defences and electrifying attacks - Cabinteely fall just short behind them in those areas.

Mid-Season Rating: C-
Three players are level at the top of the goalscoring charts for Cabinteely with three goals apiece. That is not really good enough for a team with aspirations of climbing higher up the table. They simply need to add more firepower.

Best Player: Kevin Knight
Every game that he plays Knight displays the type of commitment that should drive his team-mates on. He can operate in a number of different areas on the pitch and has even popped up with a few goals too.

Most Promising Newcomer: Stephen McGuinness
Okay, they have conceded 20 goals in 17 League games but McGuinness has been outstanding throughout the first part of the season. The former Drogheda United stopper has appeared in 14 of those games and been a major influence in each of them.

Area They Need To Strengthen: Experienced Players
Age may not matter but knowing the League does. And that is an area where Cabinteely fall short in. If they could attract a couple of wise heads it would help them immensely.
