Sligo Rovers signed off the first half of the 2018 season on a positive note as they overpowered and outplayed St Patrick's Athletic in a 3-0 victory. But there is still room for improvement.

At least that is the view of manager Gerard Lyttle, who admits that he would like to further bolster his squad following the recent signings of Mitchell Beeney and Mikey Drennan.

Lyttle is realistic about the budget that he has to work with but he is also aware of the quality that currently sits in his dressing room. So it is a balance for him to find.

"I would like a couple more, just to make sure. It's important that we have a decent squad to see us through," Lyttle told the club's official website.

"But the lads in there, every one of them has done really well. Ali Roy has done really well, obviously we will have to make a decision on his future and there are one or two others who have done really well.

"At the minute you are trying to look and see where we can strengthen and where we can add."

With regard to the win over St Pat's, Lyttle felt that his team's game-plan worked a treat as they denied their hosts a chance to get going and hit them with vital goals at key times.

"We worked really hard to press Pat's, didn't allow them to get into a flow, and when we did win the ball we made really good use of it and we were clinical at the right times," he said.
