Longford Town Football Club have recently announced the departure of manager Alan Matthews by mutual consent.
Gary Cronin will take charge in his absence when they face Shelbourne in their next fixture at Tolka Park this Friday.
Matthews resignation came after Longford thrashed Wexford 5-0 at Strokestown Road last week.
De Town had been tipped to challenge for promotion back to the Premier Division this year, but so far they have struggled for consistency and currently lie in fifth position, 13 points adrift of league leaders Waterford.
Matthews had enjoyed previous success at Longford Town. The Dublin native's side won the FAI Cup back in 2003 and again in 2004.
Following their FAI Cup win in 2004 they lifted more silverware, this time with a League Cup triumph capping a fine two years in Matthews' managerial career.
Longford are currently accepting applications to hire a new full-time manager following Matthews departure.
