LOI round-up - Shels trio depart Champions

The off-season for the League of Ireland has begun with a flurry of activity even with one game left in the 2024 season. 

Bray Wanderers and Drogheda United face-off in Tallaght tomorrow for a place in the 2025 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division and teams have been busy in preparing for the new campaign. 

Bohemians have announced the signings of Colm Whelan and Niall Morahan from Derry City and Sligo Rovers respectively after departures of Danny Grant, Paddy Kirk were confirmed last week. 

Champions Shelbourne have confirmed the departures of Shane Griffin, Matty Smith and Dean Williams. 

In Galway, John Caulfield has gotten extensions for Greg Cunningham, Jimmy Keohane, Garry Buckley, and Bobby Burns. These are added to Stephen Walsh Ed McCarthy, Conor McCormack, Rob Slevin, Jeannot Esua, Patrick Hickey, Brendan Clarke and Vincent Borden.

Despite the departures of Niall Morahan to Bohs, Will Fitzgerald confirmed a two-year extension to his stay at The Showgrounds. 

In the RSC, Dean McMenamy confirmed his stay at Waterford after they announced their retention list for 2025 and the Blues have also announced the new signing of former Arsenal Academy player James Olayinka. 

Derry City have had a busy morning, meanwhile, with Manager Ruaidhrí Higgins’ departure confirmed along with Captain Patrick McEleney who has joined Ballymena United.
