A beaming Derek Pender couldn’t wipe the smile from his face having just skippered his side to an incredible and well-deserved 4-2 victory of title chasing Cork City. “Overall I think we deserved the win. It was a brilliant game to be involved in, think it had everything. I’m really proud of the lads and delighted to have won the game really. Didn’t think I played that well myself second half, but we got the three points and that’s all that mattered.” Pender slotted home the fourth just before half time in a rip roaring first half, to make it 4-1 and effectively put the game out of reach, and went on to speak about his sides blistering start to the game.  “Yeah we came out flying and I think it was that pressure might have forced the own goal at the start and from then we didn’t give them a second.  "It wasn’t something we worked on really, we try to start every game like that, but the recent run we’ve been on breed’s confidence and helps get at teams. The front three were incredible again in fairness and thankfully we got the goals. “My own one was a bit of a swinger with the left, I just played it into Kevin (Devaney) and followed my pass because he looked to be struggling with the mask and being tackled, luckily it broke free and I had a snap shot with the left but I’ll take it,” he said with a wry smile. Man of the match Daniel Kelly stole the show with his two goals but it is Pender’s experience and tactical nous giving the exciting winger a solid platform to perform. The pair have struck up an excellent relationship down the right flank and the skipper was quick to praise the new Bohs fan favourite.  “It’s been great playing with him so far, he’s lightening quick and scoring for fun. Also being that bit younger and working that hard up and down helps me too.  "He’ll get me another four years in this league if he keeps playing like that so long may it continue!”
