St. Patrick's Athletic manager Harry Kenny spoke of his delight at the club's recent transfer activity after his side's 2-1 win over Sligo Rovers on Friday night.

For the third game running, one of Saints' new signings found the net as Glen McAuley scored an equaliser to follow up his FAI Cup winner against Bray Wanderers and Ronan Hale's late strike at Cork City.

"I'm delighted with them, they're both scoring goals and that's what we'd been lacking," Kenny said. "I was surprised they were available and their fitness is getting better as we go along. Glen, in particular, showed good instinct and really direct play tonight which I was pleased about."

While it was McAuley who levelled things up with a fine finish early in the second half, it was defender David Webster who sparked manic home celebrations with an 84th minute headed winner. Kenny feels that the goal was just reward for a Saints fanbase that has backed its side throughout a season of mixed fortunes.

"I always say that the fans here have been very good. They're demading and rightly so. We just want to give them better results than we have been giving them. When we have the attitude like tonight they get right behind you."

With seven games to play, and with Pat's lying in fifth place, Kenny will be looking remain in contention for a European spot through the Premier Division. However, that doesn't mean he won't be taking next week's FAI Cup encounter away to UCD seriously.

When asked if he will shuffle his side around against a team that were dismantled 10-1 at Bohemians on Friday, Kenny said: "No, we want to get into the quarter-finals. It's a tough task, I know they were hammered tonight but that will bear no reflection on next week's game. We've already had a tough time at UCD this season and we just need to prepare well and be in the right frame of mind."

After next week's cup tie, Saints will be back in league action away to Finn Harps in a fortnight's time.
