The Football Association of Ireland welcomes the change at Bray Wanderers FC that will see Niall O'Driscoll take control of the club.

FAI CEO John Delaney believes the appointment of O'Driscoll is a big step forward towards long-term stability for Bray Wanderers.

"It is great news that Niall has joined Bray Wanderers as his drive and vision will surely help the club return to a solid structure, where they can progress further on and off the pitch," said Delaney.

"Niall is a real football man and has proven that during his time involved in the game at all levels.

"I would like to thank Gerry Mulvey for his time at the club and wish Niall the very best in what I'm sure will be an exciting new era for Bray Wanderers."

O'Driscoll said: "I'm excited to get going with Bray Wanderers as I want everyone in Bray to be  proud of this club again. I want to see kids all around Bray wearing the club's jersey and coming to games.

"I've been involved in football my whole life and this is a way of giving something back. I want to return Bray to former glories and transform it into a club that represents the local community and all of north Wicklow.

"There is already a fantastic academy structure in place at the club and the teams at Under 19, Under 17 and Under 15 level in the SSE Airtricity League have been very successful, so I want to build on that and work towards a bright future.

"I'd like to thank FAI CEO John Delaney for his hard work in facilitating this move and I look forward to working with the FAI and creating a partnership that works for everyone involved."
