EA SPORTS LOI Academy MU15 Development Weekend to focus on “creative play”
The League of Ireland and the EA SPORTS LOI Academy will host an EA SPORTS MU15 Development Weekend centred around “creative play” on 27 and 28 April at FAI HQ in Abbotsown.
After the success of the first Development Weekend last year, each participating Club will play in three fixtures against clubs of a similar standard and where possible against clubs that they may not get the chance to play against too often for geographical purposes.
Each team is set the objective to achieve 15 points throughout the day with the teams earning points when completing challenges rather than winning games. These creative challenges include objectives such as:
• Score from a move using a diagonal pass/straight run or a straight pass /diagonal run
• Score from a move using an overlap in the attacking half of the pitch
• Score from a move using a third man run in the attacking half of the pitch
• Score from a move whereby a player creates a chance by beating his opponent in a 1 v 1 situation in a wide area of the attacking half of the pitch
• Score with a one touch finish
• Score from a “Creative” set piece
Amongst the set of rules around the games, every player must start at least one game in the day and every player must play a minimum of 40 minutes across the day.
EA SPORTS LOI Academy Development Manager, Will Clarke, said: “We’re really looking forward to hosting such an exciting day for our EA SPORTS LOI Academy MU15 teams. The Weekend will ensure the players face new creative challenges with the development of all players at the heart of the event. It’s exciting too for the players and staff to face some potentially new opponents who they won’t usually face during the season by bringing all of the teams around the country together. The EA SPORTS LOI Academy continues to help nurture the best talent around the country and weekends like this will give the players a new focus which will help further their development. We’d like to thank EA SPORTS for helping us put the weekend together and wish the players and staff the best of luck in the weekend.”
