Derry City goalkeeper Gerard Doherty admitted that the Candystripes camp was frustrated on Monday night after only coming with another point.

It was Derry’s fourth draw in five league games and Doherty said it was a frustrating point for the Foylesiders.

“I think so, were only frustrated because we didn’t win, we thought it was a good chance to come down off the back of the win the other day and we wanted to get a wee bit of momentum, we didn’t do that like, so obviously we’re going to be disappointed,” Doherty said.

The Candystripes goalkeeper didn’t have to make a clear cut save until the closing minutes of the game and he was happy just to keep his end of the bargain on Monday night.

“Well I done what I had to do, I had to keep my concentration because I knew certain things were going to happen in the game and it always happens when you have good possession and your pushing and your pushing like we were then their obviously going to get a couple of breaks and that’s what happened they got a few breaks.

“We’re not happy with a point, we’d be happier with three, but I’ll take a clean sheet all day long, but that’s our job, that’s what we try and build off, we try and be solid.

“We did that last week there and we got our rewards, we went one nil up, I think everybody can see when we get a goal up where a different team and that’s the confidence that came through the team last week when we went a goal ahead.”

"It just never happened for us tonight that way and we have to take the point and head onto Limerick.”
