The support of a home crowd can be crucial in dictating not only how a game goes but also a season. If you lose their trust then it's difficult to earn it back again.
After three straight losses, Bohemians could have been worried about how their supporters would react when they arrived at Dalymount Park for the clash with Sligo Rovers.
However, midfielder Keith Buckley was quickly reassured that they were fully behind the team and he wanted to acknowledge that following a 2-2 draw.
"We’ve had three defeats in a row, two here at home, but you look out to the crowd and they never stop," said Buckley
"They turn out in their numbers, where as elsewhere they might have dropped off with some bad results but not here. They don’t give up on you at all. It feels like they’re always singing and cheering and it drives us all on the pitch.
"So I want to say a big thanks to them and I’m confident we can repay their fate sooner rather than later.”
Keith Long's team felt that they should have got back to winning ways against Sligo with goals from Eoghan Stokes and Ian Morris giving them the lead twice in the match. But they let their visitors back in.
“We’re all obviously disappointed not to take all three points, especially after getting our noses in front twice, it's tough to take" stated Buckley.
"We were done with two set-pieces too and it’s not like us, we really need to cut out little mistakes and I think we’ll be fine.
“You could see at the end, we were the ones pushing for the winner and on top but we’re not a million miles away, just silly goals are killing us. Unlike the last three games in which we didn’t score, we scored two good goals.
"If we can cut out a couple of mistakes then we’ll be picking up a lot more points. Its little things and that makes it that much more frustrating, but like I said, we’ve scored two tonight, played well and stopped small run of very narrow defeats. Only thing we can do now is stick together, and work even harder to make it right.”
