Previewing Treaty United ahead of the new season

It's all change, again, at Market's Field. A new manager, a new CEO and, pretty much, a new squad.

A raft of players have come in from Canada and their quality will only be discovered once the games kick off. There is high hopes for a number of them, including Kayla Kyle, Delana Friesen and Caleigh Boeckx.

Treaty found that gambling on foreign recruits can pay off, as goalkeeper Anne-Marie Ulliac proved. She may have only recorded one clean sheet in 2023 but her performances saw her make the Team of the Week on three occasions.

There has been a lot of talk about Laura O’Neill making the switch from Camogie to football, so it will be interesting to see how the Limerick native fares for her hometown club.

Former Ireland international Dominic Foley will be the man charged with leading this squad and he knows that there is work to be done. He will also be aware of the local talent available in Hannah Saidi, Cara Griffin and Ireland Women's Under-17 captain Katie Lawlee.

Another young player who could excel for Treaty is Fiana Bradley. The Kerry native impressed in flashes with Cork City last season, so this will be a big year to see if she can emerge as a regular starter and finisher.

Ultimately, Treaty need to settle early on. If they lose a number of games in the first series then it might hit their confidence. However, if they pick up positive results it could be the making of a big season.
