It was a steady season at Tolka Park as Owen Heary's men finished the season strongly to raise hopes of a play-off push this campaign.

Shelbourne struggled to find the winning touch early on in the campaign, with just one win in their first five games but soon found their groove mid-way through the campaign.

The form of Adam Evans and James English helped Shels to an impressive run at the end of the season where they lost just one game in the final six to claim fourth spot in the First Division with 40 points.

The Dublin club will be hoping to continue their resurgence next campaign with the signing of David O'Sullivan from Longford Town a big statement of their intent.

Star Player: Derek Prendergast

An unfashionable hard-tackling defender, might often get overlooked for a 'star player' nomination. But, with six league goals and a commending presence at the back, Prendergast had an impressive campaign.

What they need for 2018

A good start: Shels' form at the start of the campaign took them right out of contention whilst their late-season form shows they can mix it with the best in the division. Good start is vital.

Support: Owen Heary's side played some impressive football last campaign and hopefully the club get greater numbers at Tolka Park next campaign.

Realistic Targets for 2018

Play-off push: Like most of the sides in the division, with three play-off spots, Shels need a good start and push towards those play-offs.
