Dundalk Football Club are delighted to announce that leading goalscorer Patrick Hoban has extended his contract with the club until the end of the 2021 season.
The 28 year-old centre forward is in his second spell at the club having rejoined ahead of the 2018 season following a three year spell in the UK and has a phenomenal record for the Lilywhites – 93 goals in 165 appearances for the champions including an incredible 32 in 2018.
Hoban, who initially had a 2 year spell at Oriel Park in 2013-14, has amassed an incredible 3 league titles, 2 EA SPORTS Cup and 1 FAI Cup during his time at the club and ahead of the current campaign was appointed vice captain.
The Galway native became the all-time leading league goalscorer for the club earlier this year, currently has 76, and his contract extension will come as a huge boost as the champions prepare to win a domestic treble.
Speaking to dundalkfc.com, Patrick Hoban was delighted to get the deal done and has set his sights on further success.
”I am absolutely delighted to get it done. It has been a while but I am thrilled to get it over the line. I have had a very good four years at the club, I am closing in on 100 goals for the club and I hope to do that sooner rather than later. Hopefully the next two years will be the same as the last few and we can win all the trophies we can.”
Dundalk FC Head Coach Vinny Perth said: It’s great news. We are delighted that we got the deal done and I would like to thank Mike Treacy and Peak6 for all their hard work and endeavour in getting the deal done. Pat is really important to us in terms of his character both on and off the pitch. He brings real leadership for us, he is a big player for us. The challenge for Pat is for him to continue to perform on the pitch, to continue to score goals and we have to set new targets for him. “
Dundalk FC chairman Mike Treacy said: “We are thrilled to agree to a deal with Patrick ensuring his future with Dundalk Football Club. Throughout his time at the Club he has established himself as an iconic player on the pitch and in the community. Patrick’s ability to score goals and commitment to excellence are second to none in Ireland and we look forward to continued success.”
