Richie Towell signs for Championship side Rotherham on loan

Rotherham have announced the loan signing of former Dundalk midfielder Richie Towell for the season from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The club released the below on their official website today:

“Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the return of League One promotion winner Richie Towell on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, subject to FA and Premier League clearance.

“The popular midfielder has agreed a loan move until the end of May as boss Paul Warne beat today’s 5pm transfer deadline.

“Towell, heavily linked for a return to the Millers ever since the Play-off Final victory over Shrewsbury in May, made 45 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring six goals – with his strike against Northampton winning the goal of the season award.

“Warne, who has waited patiently to strengthen his engine room, adds the Irishman to a midfield that includes fellow new boy Ryan Manning, last season’s player of the year Will Vaulks and ex-Burton ace Matt Palmer.”

  1. A while in the works but very good move. Himself and Ryan Manning might make a nice attacking combo. Even more Irish interest with Limerick man Anthony Forde, Darren Potter and former st francis striker Joshua Kayode all on the books at The Millers. Might see Martin and Roy in the stands this season
