Dundalk got the win they were looking for in Estonia tonight that sets them up favourably to progress in the return leg of their Europa League first round tie in Oriel Park next week.
The game started at a fast pace from both sides but with very few chances on goal.
Tallinn were a certainly a different standard from the side that faced Cork City with only four of the side that started against Cork City started tonight.
After a first half of few chances, Dundalk took the lead early in the second half through Dylan Connolly after a brilliant ball across the box from Michael Duffy.
Gary Rogers came to Dundalk’s rescue in the 60th minute with a double save to keep the Estonians at bay.
Dylan Connolly should have doubled Dundalk’s advantage on 71 minutes when he was put through on goal but Lepmets kept out the Dubliner.
The Estonian side put pressure on Dundalk late on but the Louth side hung on to take the precious away goal and victory to Oriel Park next week.
