Galway United  have voted in favour to accept an offer from Saudi Arabian investors to take ownership of the club.

68 members voted in favour of the takeover, with 10 voting against and one abstained.

Galway United are run by Galway United Friends Co-Operative, a group of less than 100 fans, but they will now cede majority interest to the Saudi duo of Abdulrahman Al Nemer and Mohammed Al Ruwaite.

There is apparently going to €500,000 made available to the club as soon as the deal is finalised.
